Tin foil boat experiment

Today in T1 Mr wood decided to make us make tin foil boats out of our own design then when we finished making our boats we put them in the water and started putting marbles on the boat to see how much it would hold. Me and my team beat everyone in the practice round because we made the best design for a boat and got 70 marbles on our boat before it sank.

Mission to mars

This week I have been reading and learning about the mission to mars witch is supposed to happen in the year 2025. There will be a group of people that will travel to mars but they won't be coming back. That is right they will be going there to die, Mr Wood asked us all a question it was do you think we should go to mars or not. I was puzzled I thought at first that we should not go to mars, but then i realised that it would be a great opportunity for us all. If we could colonise another planet and let more and more people go there we would solve a lot of problems with Earth but have new problems with mars so what do you think?

Reading this week

This week for reading me and my class we have been learning about this guy called Brando. Brando is the first and I think only person to walk around the entire coast of New Zealand. He has ADHD and dyslexia which made it hard for him to learn at school, since it was hard to learn his life got off track and he started doing drugs and doing other really bad things. But then one morning he woke up and decided that everything needed to change, so he set himself a goal a pretty big goal. It was to walk along the entire coast of New Zealand it was a very long journey and while he was doing it he thought about his life and how he could walk back into it.

Mud map story

                                          This is my mud map story. As a class we all had to
                                           draw a map of a place that we treasure. I chose to
                                           do one of my old old Westport house. It is called a
                                           mud map because it is not to scale and it is only a
                                           rough drawing of what the place looks like. When
                                           we finished drawing the mud map we had to do a
                                            Screencastify video of a story from the place that
                                            we chose.
                                           
                           

Using Basic Python Syntax

Today I have learned to use Trinket and to code movements and commandos to Tina, Tina is thing you control with codes there are codes such as tina.right(50) witch makes her go right and you can also make her do circles and put colors into the circles with more codes. There are so many codes you can use to make Tina do something really cool.

My Book That I'm Reading

I have just started a new book that I'm reading it is the sequel to The Giver I'm only at chapter 7 so I don't know much so far. All I know is that there is a girl named Kira that has had a twisted leg from when she was born making it hard to do much for her village. Her mother died at the very start of the book and her dad died when she was very young so now she has no parents. That is just some detail into what I am reading I cant wait to finish it.

Roman Bireme Puzzle

Today we got a new puzzle to solve. It is a little bit hard but i understood how to do it here is how to do it. You have to put numbers in the boxes  you cant have 2 or more numbers the same and the numbers have to be lower than 10 but hey can be added up to what ever number. The first 2 boxes are the multiplication boxes you have to have 2 numbers that can multiply to an even number then in the next 3 boxes you have to add up to the number that you multiplied for example if I do 1x10=10 now you have to add different  numbers to make the same number so maybe 5+3+2=10.

Tree-Kangaroo Hopscotch

Tree Kangaroo hop scotch are difficult challenges that insist students skip count. What makes them so difficult is that the skip counts intersect and that no number can be duplicated. When kangaroos skip count on a branch the number increase. Choose one of them to start on the right branch skip counting by 4 next another kangaroo goes on the left branch the numbers must be non negative integers.

Maori ~ DLO

Today in the afternoon T1 was learning the maori words for up,on,down,under and in. We had to  make a google drawing choose a word to do then get pictures from the internet meaning the same thing as what you chose and then put them on the drawing. This is my one

T2's Favourite Meat Graph

Last week in T2 we were asked to make a graph about, whats T2's favourite... I decided to make a graph about whats T2's favourite meat and as you can see chicken is the class favourite with 9 people choosing it. Lamb and duck are the two least favourite with only 3 votes each. My favourite is steak I wounder what is your favourite is.

Marshal Kaleb and Mackenzie is our group and out festival is the Marshall islands fishing festival. In the festival you have to fish for the biggest fish you can find. for our costume we made a boat and a little fish to go with. we made our costume with cardboard and fabrick

What Has Happened This Week

This week Totara 2 has been doing lots of stuff one of the things we did was our Chinese class when we learnd kung fu. It was really fun and i learnd how to punch.

What we have done this week

This week in Totara 2 we have started our new topic witch is about Vincent Van Gogh and we have started doing some school journals where we have to answer comprehension questions about the text. I found some of the questions quite tricky because you really have to think about what you are reading.

ANZAC Frontline work

This week I started on my frontline task for (ANZAC). I'm really proud of what I have done so far, my favourite one so far is the day in the life of a soldier. You have to think of what a soldier would have smelt, felt and what he or she would have heard and saw. The hardest thing to do was trying to decide what similes I could include.

Wk 5 maths

For every week in term 1 we have been doing maths before break. First we do whole class teaching which is when the whole class does like 10 maths problems and we need to solve them. Then we do independent learning. That is when we have to complete 4 tasks by the end of the week or it becomes home learning. But anyway this is my word problems.

2017 Work T2

In the first few weeks of school we have been learning about disasters in New Zealand. We have been given 8 tasks to do and this is one of the ones that I did. I chose the 1970's because that was the decade that Mt Erebus crashed.
